Cat Fleas & Ticks
Various animals like squirrels, rabbits, chipmunks, and birds can all carry fleas and ticks into your yard. These parasites aren’t just a nuisance; they can cause serious—and sometimes deadly—diseases, including Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, babesiosis, ehrlichiosis, and tick paralysis. Fleas suck the blood out of animals and humans, so getting them in your house is not something you want! They can be difficult to get out of your house, furniture, bedding, etc so prevention is the key.
Flea and Tick Prevention for Cats
For this reason, it’s important to give your cat or kitten flea and tick prevention every month. We recommend all cats be on flea/tick preventative all year long since these parasites can live in your house even through the winter! When you come into our clinic for your annual vaccinations, we will discuss the options of medications we have available.
